Srinagar,(TDD): Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav today highlighted the increased infiltration activity by terrorists ahead of the winter season and stated that the BSF’s ready counter such attempts along the Line of Control (LoC).
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Yadav said, “Maximum terrorist infiltration occurs right before the onset of winter. The BSF, in collaboration with the Army, diligently plans to bridge vulnerable gaps along the LoC to neutralize such threats.”
He further explained that intelligence from multiple agencies forms the backbone of their anti-infiltration operations. “We analyze inputs from various intelligence sources to identify potential infiltration attempts. Despite the presence of terrorists at launch pads across the border, we dominate our areas with precision and are confident of dismantling any intrusion attempts,” Yadav added.
Yadav pointed out that the approaching snowfall often blocks traditional routes, prompting militants to intensify their efforts during this period. The BSF, working in tandem with the Army, has adopted a multi-layered strategy, including enhanced surveillance, night patrolling, and the use of advanced technology such as thermal imaging devices and ground sensors.
“We have bolstered our defenses, especially in areas known for infiltration. Our collaboration with the Army ensures that any gaps are effectively sealed,” Yadav said.
Yadav acknowledged the challenges posed by rugged terrain and unpredictable weather conditions but reaffirmed the BSF’s preparedness. “The way we dominate the LoC and maintain our presence, we are fully equipped to counter any threats. Our forces are ready and resolute,” he said.
The remarks come amid increased reports of terrorist activity near launch pads across the border, with militants seeking to exploit lapses in vigilance during foggy and snow-laden conditions. Security forces are particularly alert as infiltration during this period is often linked to escalated militant activity in the hinterland-(TDD)
