BJP Issues Clarification on Rajya Sabha Candidate List; Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir Confirmed as Nominee

New Delhi: DD, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday issued an official clarification regarding its earlier announcement of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued by the office of National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, the party clarified that the name mentioned earlier as Ghulam Mohammad Mir was incorrect. The correct name is Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir, who will now represent the party as its official candidate for the Rajya Sabha.

The correction followed internal consultations within the BJP leadership and was made to ensure accuracy and transparency ahead of the crucial polls, it reads.

“The decision to rectify the error was taken promptly to maintain the party’s credibility and clarity in communication,” reads the statement.

The revised candidate list has been shared with the Election Commission of India and other concerned authorities.
BJP leaders reaffirmed that the party’s internal mechanisms are designed to identify and correct inadvertent errors swiftly.

Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir is expected to play a key role in the party’s strategy for the Upper House. The BJP leadership expressed confidence in his political experience and contributions.

The upcoming Rajya Sabha elections are viewed as politically significant for Jammu and Kashmir, as they will determine the region’s representation at the national level. (KNC)
