Udhampur: DD, An Indian Army jawan, who had sustained injuries during a gunfight with the terrorists in Basantgarh, has succumbed.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched today at Basantgarh (Udhampur),” reads an official statement of the Indian Army.
It stated that the contact with the terrorists was established and a fierce firefight ensued.
“One of our brave-hearts sustained grievous injuries in the initial exchange and later, he succumbed despite best medical efforts,” reads the official statement. Till the filing of the report, the anti-terror operation was in progress.DD
