Amit Shah Reviews Development and Security in J&K During High-Level Meetings in Srinagar

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD)Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on the final day of his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, chaired two significant meetings in Srinagar on Tuesday—one focused on development and the other on security.

The first meeting, held at Raj Bhawan, was a comprehensive review of ongoing development projects across the Union Territory. It was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior officials from the Union Home Ministry, and top bureaucrats from the J&K administration. The two-hour session focused on accelerating infrastructure projects, improving public services, and addressing administrative bottlenecks.

Later, Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess the prevailing situation in the region. The meeting, which lasted nearly two and a half hours, included senior officers from the Army, police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies. Chief Minister Abdullah did not attend the security-focused session.

During the meeting, the Home Minister appreciated the efforts of the security forces in maintaining peace and stability in the region. He also instructed agencies to maintain high levels of vigilance and continue proactive counter-terror operations.

Earlier on Monday evening, Shah paid a heartfelt visit to the residence of Kirti Chakra awardee DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat in Anantnag, who was martyred during an anti-terror operation in September 2023. He spent time with the officer’s father, retired IGP Ghulam Hassan Bhat, offering condolences and expressing the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifice.
