Srinagar, (DD)In a bid to revive and promote the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday flagged off the ‘Rally for Revival of Tourism’ from the scenic banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar.

The rally, organized as part of a broader initiative to rejuvenate the region’s economy through tourism, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local stakeholders, including tour operators, hoteliers, houseboat owners, and youth groups. The event also featured decorated shikaras and a symbolic march by participants carrying banners promoting eco-tourism, cultural heritage, and responsible travel.

Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari emphasized the importance of tourism as a pillar of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy and employment generation. “This rally is not just a symbolic gesture — it’s a call to action. We must collectively work to restore the vibrancy of our tourism industry, which has suffered setbacks due to various challenges over the years,” he said.

He called upon the government to take concrete steps for infrastructure development, better connectivity, and a comprehensive tourism policy that supports local communities while preserving the region’s ecological balance.

Bukhari also interacted with local business owners and assured them that his party would continue to push for pro-tourism policies and increased government support. “Tourism in Kashmir is not just about scenic beauty; it’s about livelihoods, culture, and peace,” he added.

The rally concluded at Nishat Garden, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to reviving tourism and working towards a welcoming environment for visitors(DD)
