Poonch,TDD,In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Surankote Police apprehended a woman drug smuggler, Zoya Khan, wife of Md Imtiaz, a resident of Moori Loran and presently residing in Sarai Mohalla, Poonch. She was found in possession of 7 grams of heroin during a search operation at Surankote.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the police team led by SDPO Surankote Ajaz Choudhary and SHO Surankote Rajesh Thapa conducted a search operation at a specific location in Surankote. During the operation, Zoya Khan was intercepted, and upon thorough checking, heroin like substance recovered from her possession. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures.
A case FIR No. 261/2024 under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at the Surankote Police Station, and further investigations are underway to unearth potential links to a larger drug network.
The local Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking from the region and have urged citizens to come forward with information regarding any suspicious activities.
