J&K Police Chief Calls for Focused Action Against Terror Ecosystem


Srinagar: The Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Nalin Prabhat, today chaired a comprehensive security review meeting in Budgam district of Kashmir Division, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, to assess the prevailing security scenario and the operational preparedness of the district police.

The meeting was attended by S.J.M. Geelani, IPS, Special DGP (Coordination); IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, IPS; DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajeev Pandey, IPS; SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar, IPS; besides the Additional SP Budgam, all SDPOs, DySPs SOG, SHOs, DOs, and other senior officers of District Budgam.

During the review meeting, SSP Budgam presented a detailed briefing on counter-terror operations, law and order management, measures to prevent crime, action against drug trafficking, the area domination plan, and the overall security scenario of the district.

The DGP reviewed ongoing kinetic and non-kinetic operations, anti-terror strategies, and measures to dismantle the separatist and terror ecosystem in the district. He stressed the need for actionable intelligence generation by field officers and directed them to maintain sustained operational momentum.

Highlighting the current security challenges, the DGP directed officers to adopt non-traditional, non-conformist, and modern tactics to neutralise Pakistani terrorists. He called for a focused approach and renewed efforts against terrorists and their support networks to eliminate terrorism and establish peace in the district.

To strengthen the overall security grid, the DGP emphasised maintaining seamless coordination with sister agencies, implementing an effective area domination plan, and keeping surveillance on traditional terror sympathisers and separatist networks in the district.

While reviewing law and order, he stressed taking preventive measures against miscreants, engaging peace-loving citizens in day-to-day policing activities, and adopting measures to bridge the gap between the police and the public.

Before concluding the meeting, the DGP urged officers to continue counter-terror operations in the area and remain committed to establishing long-lasting peace and stability in the district.DD
