Ajaz Ahmed Khan Condemns Killing of Youth in Police Firing, Seeks Judicial Probe

Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu, DD, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, former Minister and Chief Patron of the Gurjar-Bakerwal Conference, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of 21-year-old Mohammad Parvez in an alleged cross-firing incident involving police personnel in Jammu. Terming the act as a “cold-blooded murder”, he urged the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to immediately direct the concerned authorities to initiate a judicial inquiry into the incident.

In a sharply worded statement, Khan demanded that an FIR be lodged against the police officials allegedly involved in the killing and called for their immediate suspension. “Those responsible should be attached outside Jammu—preferably to the Kashmir Valley—so that a fair and impartial probe can be carried out by a retired or sitting judge of the High Court,” he said.

He lamented that tribal youth, especially from the Gurjar-Bakerwal community, have been facing harassment and unlawful killings in the region over the past year. “The Gurjar-Bakerwal community is a nationalist and law-abiding section of society. It deserves to be treated with dignity and in accordance with the law,” he added.

Khan emphasized that justice must not only be done but also seen to be done in this matter, to restore public faith in the system and prevent such incidents in the future.DD
