Schools in Rajouri and Reasi have been ordered closed, while Samba authorities have issued a comprehensive safety advisory for residents.

Flood-like Conditions in Rajouri

Continuous downpours in Rajouri have caused the Dharhali and Saktoh rivers to swell, creating flood-like conditions in several low-lying areas. To ensure student safety, the District Magistrate announced the closure of all government and private schools in the district for the day.

โ€œIn view of adverse weather conditions, all Government and Private Schools in Rajouri District will remain closed today,โ€ the District Magistrate said in a public post on X.

In neighbouring Reasi, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the closure of all educational institutions on July 22 as a preventive step.

A circular issued by the Chief Education Officer stated:

โ€œAll the Government and Private Schools of District Reasi shall remain closed on 22-07-2025 as a precautionary measure.โ€

Samba DC Issues Rain Advisory

The advisory urged the public to avoid travel through landslide-prone areas and strictly prohibited the crossing of nallahs, streams, or rivers in spate. It also instructed school administrations to assess infrastructure safety and suspend classes if any building is found unsafe.

โ€œFor students who must cross streams or water bodies to reach school, classes shall remain suspended until the weather improves,โ€ the advisory read.

Residents requiring emergency assistance have been advised to contact the District Control Room at 01923-241004.
