Speaker to Convene Key Review Meeting on House Committees Tomorrow

Chairs of Nine Legislative Panels and Top Officials to Attend

Srinagar, (DD): The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, has called a high-level meeting on Monday to review the functioning of nine recently constituted House Committees.

Official sources said the meeting aims to strengthen the role and efficiency of various legislative panels, particularly financial and oversight committees, in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Assembly.

Those expected to attend include:

Sham Lal Sharma – Chairman, Committee on Public Accounts

Shamim Firdous – Chairperson, Committee on Estimates

Ali Mohammad Sagar – Chairman, Committee on Public Undertakings

Sajad Gani Lone – Chairman, Committee on Government Assurances

Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami – Chairman, Committee on Environment

Surjeet Singh Slathia – Chairman, Ethics Committee

Nizam-ud-din Bhat – Chairman, Committee on Privileges

Hasnain Masoodi – Chairman, Committee on Subordinate Legislation

Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah – Chairman, Committee on Petitions

In addition to the committee heads, senior government functionaries have also been requested to participate. These include the Principal Accountant General of J&K, the Commissioner Secretary of the General Administration Department, and the Secretary of the Department of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

The meeting is part of an ongoing effort to ensure active committee engagement and improved legislative oversight across key areas of governance.(DD)
