Jammu, (DD) Lieutenant General P K Mishra, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, visited the Rajouri sector on Wednesday to assess the security situation amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) following recent ceasefire violations and mine blasts in Poonch.
During his visit, Lt Gen Mishra, accompanied by the GOC of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo), held discussions with senior commanders to review the operational preparedness of the troops. He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and proactive measures to counter potential threats.
Addressing the troops, he commended their professionalism and dedication, acknowledging their resilience in tackling the challenging terrain and evolving security dynamics in the region. “Your commitment to duty and relentless efforts in ensuring peace and stability are commendable,” he said.
Lt Gen Mishra also met with veterans and ex-servicemen, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the armed forces. He highlighted their role in intelligence gathering, community engagement, and mentoring young soldiers, which remains vital in counter-insurgency operations.
Taking over as the GOC of 16 Corps on Monday, Lt Gen Mishra has outlined his top priorities, including bolstering border security, improving counter-terrorism strategies, and maintaining high operational readiness.
His visit comes at a crucial time, with recent ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces and incidents like mine blasts in Poonch, which have raised concerns over cross-border infiltration attempts and the need for a robust security framework along the LoC.(DD)
