Suspected Grenade Attack Near Police Post in Baramulla, No Casualties Reported

Diplomat Correspondent

Baramulla, (DD): A blast-like sound was heard near the Old Town police post in Baramulla late last night, with police suspecting it to be a grenade attack. Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred during the intervening night of March 4 and 5, prompting an immediate security response. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched in coordination with other security agencies.

During the search, officials recovered a grenade pin from the rear side of the police post, outside its boundary wall. Preliminary findings suggest that the grenade detonated inside the post but did not cause any harm. Authorities are still working to locate the impact crater.

A thorough investigation has been initiated, and security forces continue search operations in and around the area.(DD)
