Srinagar,(DD):In a significant step towards dismantling the narcotics trade in the Valley, Srinagar Police have attached a residential property valued at approximately ₹75 lakh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The action forms part of the ongoing campaign to choke the financial networks enabling the drug menace.

The property—a single-storey house with adjoining land—located in Athwajan, Srinagar, was in the possession of two notorious drug peddler brothers, Irfan Ahmad Ganie and Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, sons of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie. Both individuals are named in FIR No. 05/2025 at Police Station Panthachowk and FIR No. 136/2024 at Police Station Safakadal, filed under various provisions of the NDPS Act.

Investigations have revealed that the immovable asset, though registered in their father’s name, was acquired using proceeds from illegal drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police formally attached the property following due legal procedure. The property is now barred from being sold, transferred, or dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.

The accused have a documented history of targeting local youth with narcotic substances, posing a serious threat to public health and safety. This latest action is part of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader strategy to break the economic backbone of drug syndicates operating in the region.

Srinagar Police reiterated their unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse from society and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any information related to drug trafficking.

“Together, we can build a drug-free, safe, and healthy Srinagar,” a police spokesperson said(DD)
