Nyoma:DD, The Department of Sheep Husbandry Nyoma,conducted an Awareness Camp at Tegazong village under Sheep Extension Centre – Korzok in collaboration with NBAGR – Karnal.
During the camp, Dr. Mohd Sadiq, Assistant Director, Sheep Husbandry Department, Nyoma enlightened the herders about the Genetic importance and Disease Outbreak management and also highlighted the villagers/herders about the importance of formation of FPO (Farmers Producers Organization) on Sheep & Goat products and its benefits among the herders to channelize their income generating sources.
Dr. Mohd Sadiq, AD-SHD, Nyoma informed the villagers that so far Department under the leadership of Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Director, Sheep Husbandry Department, UT-Ladakh in collaboration with LAHDC- Leh has managed to distribute 60 quintals of Barley, 240 quintals of Feed & 240 bags of Wheat Bran among the livestock herders under SEC- Korzok till date, wherein 10% of the vulnerable population were taken into consideration affected during the recent snowstorms in the region.
After the Camp, Dr. Mohd Sadiq along-with Departmental officials visited the nearby areas to thoroughly check the pasture status and Health status of the livestock. The villagers were very relieved to receive the relief materials on crucial time when the weather was creating havoc among their only source of livelihood.DD
