Jammu:(DD) Members of the Legislative Assembly on Saturday raised concerns over the reported allotment of land to a Sri Lankan cricketer in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the Question Hour, CPI(M) MLA Muhammad Yousouf Tarigami questioned how land had been allotted to the cricketer in Kathua. However, he did not disclose the name of the individual.

Congress MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir also sought clarification from the government, asking how a non-Indian cricketer could be granted land in J&K.

“This is a serious matter and needs to be examined,” he said.

In response, Minister for Agriculture Production Department Javaid Ahmad Dar acknowledged the concerns and stated that the issue falls under the purview of the Revenue Department, which would need to look into the matter.(DD)
