BANGKOK: India and Thailand have agreed to deepen cooperation in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development during the 10th Thailand-India Defence Dialogue held in Bangkok.

The dialogue reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral defence cooperation and provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global security issues of mutual interest. The meeting was co-chaired by Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence, Admiral Nuttapol Diewvanich, and Joint Secretary in India’s Ministry of Defence, Satyajit Mohanty.

Both sides discussed the evolving security environment in the Indo-Pacific region and exchanged perspectives on key regional developments. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region.

The delegations reviewed progress made in bilateral defence ties since the previous dialogue. Discussions covered military-to-military engagements, capacity-building initiatives, training exchanges, maritime cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.

The meeting also assessed ongoing defence industry cooperation and explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development. Both countries expressed their intent to promote mutually beneficial partnerships between their respective defence sectors.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation under regional and multilateral defence frameworks, including ASEAN-led mechanisms. They reiterated their commitment to addressing shared security challenges through dialogue, practical cooperation and collaboration.
