BJP Ignoring Public Issues, Obsessed with Maharaja, PoJK: Deputy CM Choudhary

Says Opposition must be held accountable for failing to address Unemployment, Infrastructure, Governance

Jammu,(DD) Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of failing to raise pressing public concerns in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Instead, he said, the party was focusing on historical debates about the Maharaja’s rule and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) rather than addressing real issues affecting the people.

Speaking to the media outside the Assembly, Choudhary said the people of Jammu must hold the BJP accountable for not taking up concerns like unemployment, infrastructure development, and governance failures.

“I urge the people of Jammu to question the BJP on why they are ignoring real issues. Instead of discussing problems that impact citizens today, they are stuck debating the Maharaja’s era and PoJK,” he said.

The Deputy CM also praised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for effectively countering the BJP in the Assembly, stating that the opposition had no answers when Omar pointed out that the Maharaja’s state had already been divided into two halves and that reviving old debates would not help solve present-day problems.

The remarks come amid heated debates in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, with the government emphasizing a focus on development, employment generation, and economic growth, while the opposition has been accused of deflecting attention to historical and ideological issues.(DD)
