New Delhi, General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), undertook a two-day visit to formations of Central Command on 04 and 05 August 2026 to review the prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives.
At Headquarters Central Command, Lucknow, the COAS was briefed on the Command’s operational posture, infrastructure development, modernisation efforts and measures being undertaken to further strengthen combat readiness. He thereafter visited Headquarters Uttar Bharat Area and interacted with commanders and troops.
During his interaction with all ranks, the COAS emphasised that operational preparedness, adaptability and self-reliance remain the bedrock of military effectiveness. He exhorted troops to remain vigilant, operationally agile and future-ready to effectively address emerging security challenges.
The COAS also felicitated Major General Harsh Kakar (Retired), Colonel Arvind Singh Kushwaha (Retired), Naib Subedar Radhey Shyam (Retired) and Risaldar Major (Honorary Captain) Vijay Kumar (Retired) with the Yoddha Seva Samman in recognition of their exemplary contributions in the fields of social service, education, healthcare, environment, agriculture, sports and veterans’ welfare. The award honours the enduring spirit of service and commitment to the Nation beyond active military service.
The visit underscored the Indian Army’s continued focus on maintaining a high degree of operational readiness and building a technologically empowered, self-reliant and future-ready force.
