Security Tightened in Padder as SOG Steps Up Checking Amid Chenab Valley Alert

Kishtwar, Jammu (India): The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir has intensified surprise checking in the hilly district with the support of other security agencies, as the Chenab Valley remains on high alert following an encounter with a group of terrorists in the Kishtwar hills.

Naka checking has been increased after a recent encounter with terrorists hiding in the difficult terrain of the district’s mountainous region. Although the terrorists managed to escape deep into the forests, security forces successfully busted their natural hideout and recovered large stockpiles of eatables, cooking gas cylinders, and other essentials required to survive for an extended period during winter.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has continued its Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) in the forest areas of Kishtwar district. Simultaneously, SOG teams led by DySP Vijay Bhardwaj have intensified vehicle checking and search operations at various locations.

As part of these efforts, a naka was established at Gulabgarh Bridge, a strategically important crossing point in Padder, one of the remotest areas of Kishtwar district, following searches in the Kundal, Tatapani, and Kijayi areas.

These nakas were set up in coordination with SHO Atholi to maintain strict vigilance over suspicious activities, especially in view of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026.

Meanwhile, security forces remain on high alert across the Chenab Valley to ensure peace and the safety of both public and private property.DD
