Four Deaths Under Probe; Report to Be Submitted in Four Weeks’

Leh: DD, The District Magistrate Leh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the serious law and order situation on September 24, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of four individuals during police action.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra Mukul Beniwal has been designated as the Inquiry Officer to ascertain the detailed facts and circumstances of the incident.

Order reads, “whereas, the District Magistrate Leh vide Order No. 03 JC of 2025 dated 26/09/2025. has designated the undersigned as Inquiry Officer for Magisterial Inquiry into the death of 04 individuals during the serious law and order situation and police action that took place at Leh on 24/09/2025.”

Whereas, the terms and reference of the inquiry are to ascertain the detailed facts and circumstances leading to the serious law and order situation, police action and resultant death of 04 individuals, namely, Jigmet Dorjey, So Yountan Chospel, resident of Kharnak; Rinchen Dadul, S/o Tsering Morup, resident of Hanu; Stanzin Namgail, S/o Nawang Zotpa, resident of Igoo and Tsewang Tharchin, S/o Stanzin Namgyal, resident of Skurbuchan.

The order directed that the submission of a detailed inquiry report must be given within a period of four weeks.

Therefore, by virtue of this notice, any person(s) having information about the incident or is willing/desirous to give oral evidence/ written statement/ material evidence (photos or video recordings) before the inquiry officer regarding the incident may appear before the undersigned and provide statements/evidence as per the schedule given below.
