SIA Conducts Multi-Location Raids in Srinagar Over 1990 Sarla Bhat Murder Case

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday carried out coordinated raids at eight different locations in Srinagar as part of its probe into the 1990 abduction and killing of Kashmiri Pandit woman, Sarla Bhat.

Officials said SIA teams, backed by police and CRPF personnel, launched the searches early in the morning across various parts of the city. The operation was still underway at the time of reporting, with no official word yet on arrests or seizures.

The case dates back to April 1990, during the peak of militancy in the Valley, when Sarla Bhat was abducted and killed — an incident that remains a grim reminder of the violence faced by the minority community during that period.(DD)
