Kishtwar-Padder Road Blocked for Seventh Day After Heavy Snowfall, Residents in Distress

Imran Shah

Kishtwar, (DD): The Kishtwar-Padder road has remained impassable for the seventh consecutive day following heavy snowfall last week, leaving local residents struggling for essential supplies and medical aid.

The prolonged road closure has disrupted daily life, cutting off access to food, medicines, and other necessities. With the holy month of Ramadan underway, the situation has become even more challenging for affected families.

In the absence of road connectivity, locals—alongside the Indian Army—have been transshipping stranded passengers across the dangerous, snow-covered terrain. However, the journey remains treacherous, posing significant risks to travellers.

Residents have urged the authorities to expedite snow clearance operations and restore connectivity at the earliest to ensure safe passage and the delivery of essential services.(DD)
