Fifth tragedy strikes Rajouri: Another child dies in Budhaal, only one sibling survives

DD Correspondent
Jammu, (DD): In a heart-wrenching continuation of the Budhaal deaths saga, 10-year-old Zabeena succumbed to her illness while under treatment at SMGS Hospital, Jammu.

Her tragic passing marks the fifth death in her family, following the loss of her four siblings earlier. Now, only one sister remains, still battling for her life in the same hospital.

The grief-stricken family, hailing from a remote area, has been devastated by this series of deaths, leaving the community in shock. While the exact cause of the deaths remains unclear, concerns have been raised about access to timely medical care and the prevalence of undiagnosed illnesses in underprivileged regions.

Medical authorities at SMGS Hospital are continuing to treat the surviving child, but the situation has sparked widespread calls for better healthcare infrastructure and intervention in such crisis-prone areas. Officials are yet to issue a detailed statement regarding the underlying cause of this tragedy, but investigations are underway.

The recurring deaths have also prompted appeals for immediate governmental action to prevent similar losses in the future. Local representatives and NGOs are urging authorities to prioritize the health and well-being of the affected family and the wider community.

This devastating loss has left an indelible mark on Badhaal village, raising critical questions about healthcare accessibility and the urgent need for reform. (DD)
