SOTTO J&K delivers Organ Donation awareness for Senior Citizens

Jammu, DD, An awareness lecture on Organ Donation and Transplantation was arranged for senior citizens at Senior Citizen Rejuvenation Centre (SCRC) Trikuta Nagar Jammu by the Jammu and Kashmir State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO J&K) on Thursday evening of March 13.

President SCRC, Mr Kuldeep Singh Samyal welcomed and introduced the Joint Director SOTTO J&K, Dr Sanjeev Puri as the resource person for Organ Donation to the members.

Dr Puri explained the process of human organ donation, its necessity to save lives of patients with end stage organ failure and the concept of brain stem dead person with family consenting for Organ donation under the National Organ Transplant Programme (NOTP) and Transplantation of Human Organ and Tissue Act (THOTA), 1994. He clarified the myths and facts relevant to the organ donation.

He answered the queries of the members regarding the process of Organ Donation and advised members to pledge for Organ Donation on notto.abdm.gov.in

Among the audience the executive members of SCRC present were Mr.TR Puri, Vice President,
Mr Ashok Gupta, Chief Patron, Mr TC Taggar, General Secretary, Mr ID Soni, Educationist, Mr SC Verma, President Trikuta Development Council and Mr Ramesh Gupta, Finance Secretary, who felicitated Dr Sanjeev Puri, the key speaker and Mr Sohail Kazmi, the Senior Journalist.

Anshu Sharma, Media Consultant and Mr Ashwani Kumar from SOTTO managed the event and presented the information material for the members.DD
