Jammu: The Government has authorized all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) to exercise the powers of Executive Magistrates.
For this, a notification was issued by the Secretary Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs J&K stating therein, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 14 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Government hereby appoints all Regional Transport Officers (RTOS) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOS) to exercise the powers of Executive Magistrate (s), within their respective territorial jurisdictions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as prescribed under the provisions of BNSS, until further orders.DD
