Repeal four new labour codes, raise minimum wages: Tarigami

Srinagar: DD, As part of nationwide strike, J&K CITU was scheduled to hold one day peaceful protest on working class issues at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, Srinagar under proper permission from the district Administration Srinagar which was later on cancelled for reasons not known.
The demand charter of the of the Trade Union includes: – Repeal of four new Labour Codes; end to contractualization and privatisation of public sector units; creation of more government jobs and regular recruitment; raising national minimum wages to Rs 26000 per month; strengthening of rural employment schemes like MGNREGA and introducing the similar programmes in Urban areas; loan waiver for farmers etc.
Addressing a press conference at Srinagar, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, State President, J&K CITU opposed the move of the administration to cancel the peaceful protest scheduled to be held at Srinagar stating that this move is highly undemocratic.


The working force comprising daily wagers, casual labourers, Scheme workers including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, CPWs, HDF workers, NHM employees; Construction workers; MDM; cooks; handicraft and artisan workers; Apple Farmers, transport workers; horticulture workers, electricity workers, MGNREGA workers; former employees of J&K Cements Ltd are not allowed to highlight their burning issues, which is gross violation of the hard earned trade union rights.
The present dispensation at Delhi is hell bent to suppress the democratic rights and aspirations of the working people and impressed upon the people at helm of affairs to repeal four labour codes which are anti-labour and pro-corporate in nature, implementation of minimum wages of Rs 26, 000 per month to the working force, regularization of daily wagers, NHM employees, scheme workers; end of contractualization and privatisation in government services; creation of more government jobs and regular recruitment; Implementation of Crop Insurance Scheme, he said.
The regularisation process of daily wagers needs to be expedited to address their genuine and long pending problem.
The minimum wages which are at lower side in J&K in comparison to other states and union territories be implemented for the work force in J&K, the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and ASHAS be provided the remuneration at par with the Telangana, Kerala, West Bengal, Delhi etc.
He stressed that the social security cover including pension be extended to the workforce at large.DD
