Jammu, (DD): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in Jammu later today and, subject to weather conditions, may travel to the cloudburst-hit Chasoti village in Kishtwar district.

The LG visited GMC Jammu in the morning to meet those injured in the tragedy. “Everyone is stable and I hope they all recover quickly and return home,” he told reporters. Calling the incident “extremely unfortunate,” he confirmed that several lives were lost and 32 persons remain missing. “Authorities worked very hard to trace the missing, but efforts are still continuing,” he said.

Sinha added that the administration has stepped up relief and rehabilitation measures. “So far, ₹4.13 crore has been given to the victims. Both the J&K government and the Centre are fully committed to ensuring complete relief and rehabilitation of the affected families,” he assured.

On Rajnath Singh’s schedule, the LG said, “Rajnath Singh ji will be reaching here shortly. If the weather allows, he will go to Kishtwar; otherwise, he will visit GMC Jammu to meet the injured before returning to Delhi.”

Appealing to people to remain cautious amid continuous rainfall, Sinha noted that multiple advisories have already been issued and that all agencies remain on alert(DD)
