SAMBA: – Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today appealed the Govt of India to reconsider the shutting of the MBBS Course from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence by the National Medical Commission claiming improper infrastructure.
Expressing surprise over the move, the Former Minister said that it came as a shocker for the people of Jammu who struggled for the Medical College in Jammu, but because of the communal politics, the students have to suffer.
“The Govt could have increased the number of medical seats to adjust the deserving students from Jammu plains and also to addressing the concerns raised by a section of people. However, the NMC decision is adverse and has a far reaching adverse impact on the future of the students in Jammu who wish to pursue MBBS,” said the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh.
He was speaking at Parmandal Block, while interacting with the people in the block of Samba District.
He said that the issue snowballed into a communal rhetoric for vote bank, and it casted the younger generation, and its future.
“It’s very unfortunate to note that the people of Jammu once again became victims of political discrimination that rendered them helpless with cancellation of MBBS course in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence,” he added.
Denouncing the politics of hate, he said that an attempt is being made with the movement to divide the people on religious lines that would not be allowed to happen in the Jammu region.
“Apni Party stands for the unity in the society, and integrity of the country and hence, there is no place for hate politics,” he said, asking the Govt of India to reconsider the decision of cancellation of the MBBS Course Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence.
He demanded that the course be re-started with an increased number of MBBS seats to accommodate the medical students of Jammu.
“We need to fulfil the aspirations of the aspiring doctors, and medical students by restarting an institution that has a reputation,” he added.DD
