HEAVY RAINS SWELL RIVERS: Bridge damaged in Kathua, flash flood hits Jammu City

KATHUA/JAMMU: DD, A bridge in Sahar Khad area near Langate Morh in Kathua District today suffered damages on Jammu-Pathankot highway following a flash flood triggered by heavy rains.
Following the damages, the bridge has been closed for vehicular traffic as it poses threat to the lives of the commuters.
The bridge has been damaged from the middle as one of its pillars seems sunk due to the water current in flash flood, the reports added.
Similar reports are coming from Samba District where Basantar River has been flooded due to the rains.
Jammu City also witnessed heavy downpour since early morning, and many low lying areas like Canal Road reportedly submerged as the canal water has also been overflowing.
The reports claim that the vehicles were also damaged in some of the areas of Janipur because of the flash flood.
Among the worst hit areas include Bhawani Nagar, Lower Roop Nagar, Canal Road, ward number 36, and many other places.DD
