Kishtwar: DD, Two persons, including a man, and a woman, have reportedly lost their lives in a cloudburst in Tanta Kahara, Gandoh in Doda District on August 26.
Speaking to Diplomat Digital, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gandoh, Arun Badyal, said that two persons have died due to the cloudburst in Tanta Kahra in Gandoh (Doda).


Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports claim that a cloudburst has occurred at Chingm in Chatroo (Kishtwar). However, no loss of life was reported.
There are also reports of damage to two residential houses in Drabshalla.
As the situation remains grim due to the continuous rainfall throughout the night, and day; the Kishtwar-Doda highway has been closed following landslides at some locations.
The authorities have taken precautionary measures, advising people to avoid travel during the heavy downpour.
According to the reports, multiple landslides and flash-floods triggered by heavy rains across the Chenab Valley have put authorities on high alert.
Amid the alertness, the police alongwith the Red-Cross, SDRF/NDRF and others have been continuously monitoring the situation, and advising people to stay away from the water channels/rivers/ nallahs.DD
