PDP condemns hijab incident, seeks apology and resignation

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson Syed Tajmul on Tuesday strongly condemned the alleged act of Nitesh Kumar pulling down the hijab of a Muslim girl, calling it a “shameful and unacceptable assault on dignity, faith and constitutional values.”
In a statement issued here, Tajmul said the incident has deeply hurt Muslim sentiments and reflects a disturbing disregard for the rights guaranteed under the Constitution.“This is not just an act of personal misconduct; it is an attack on the dignity of a young girl and on the fundamental freedoms of a community,”he said.

The PDP spokesperson demanded that Nitesh Kumar tender a public apology and step down immediately, asserting that accountability is essential to uphold the rule of law and social harmony. He also urged authorities to take swift and impartial action to ensure justice and prevent such incidents in the future.DD
