Doctors Misusing Security Concerns for Transfers: MLA Kupwara

Calls for Ban on Private Practice of Government Medicos

Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu, (DD): MLA Kupwara, Mir Muhammad Fayaz, has alleged that doctors posted in his district are securing transfers by citing security concerns, resulting in a shortage of medical professionals in the region.

Speaking during the Question Hour in the Assembly, Mir claimed that many doctors use security-related excuses to get relocated to Srinagar and other urban areas, leaving healthcare services in Kupwara understaffed.

He further demanded a complete ban on private practice by government doctors, stating that they spend only a few hours in hospitals while prioritizing their private clinics.

The issue has sparked fresh debate on the accountability of medical professionals and the need for stricter regulations to ensure uninterrupted healthcare in remote areas.(DD)
