J&K (India): Two Pakistani terrorists have been neutralised by security forces in the higher reaches of Chatroo during an operation in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
“Pursuant to credible intelligence inputs collated from J&K Police, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other intelligence sources, a deliberate joint operation was launched in the Kishtwar region under Operation Trashi-I to track and neutralise terrorists operating in the area,” an official said.
They said troops of the specialised Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta, White Knight Corps, in close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, re-engaged a group of terrorists today at approximately 11:00 AM in challenging terrain, the defence spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added, “Displaying tactical precision, seamless synergy, and resolute aggression, troops dominated the encounter site in which two terrorists were neutralised, and war-like stores were recovered.” The recoveries include two AK-47 rifles and other ammunition.
The Hunt Continues
Security forces have strengthened the cordon around the encounter site. Elite commando units of the Indian Army are leading the operation.
Operation Trashi-I
Security forces neutralised a top commander, Adil of Jaish-e-Mohammed, during an encounter in the Kalaban general area of Naidgam, Kishtwar. During anti-terror operations in Chatroo, one of the remotest areas of Kishtwar, three terrorists have been neutralised by security forces since January 18, when the operation was first launched.
Last year in April, security forces also launched an anti-terror operation in the Pingnad area—again in Chatroo’s Naidgam—where a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander was neutralised along with two others. Notably, security forces recovered M4 carbines, AK-47 rifles, and other ammunition.
Operations in Doda–Kishtwar
Security forces have continued their operations in the dense forests connecting the districts of Doda and Kishtwar following reports of the movement of suspected terrorists. These operations are being conducted in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police and CRPF.DD
