Northern Command launches Project Garbh Sanskar

Udhampur: Regional Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), Northern Command, Udhampur, recently launched Project Garbh Sanskar across the Command theatre and various stations through a virtual outreach programme.
The initiative received an overwhelming response with nearly 2,500 AWWA beneficiaries participating in the programme.

The participants included expectant mothers (ante-natal), post-natal mothers, as well as newly married couples planning their families. The enthusiastic participation reflects growing awareness and a strong commitment within the Army community towards maternal health and holistic family well-being.

Project Garbh Sanskar is a visionary initiative designed to provide ‘to-be parents’ an opportunity to embrace best practices rooted in India’s ancient wisdom, seamlessly integrated with modern medical science.

The project focuses on nurturing the physical, mental and emotional development of a child right from the mother’s womb, laying a strong foundation for a healthier and empowered future generation.
The session was conducted by distinguished gynaecologists Dr. Pushpa Pandey, Dr. Manju Gupta and Col Rakhi Dhawan from the Central AWWA Team, who highlighted the importance of holistic maternal care during pregnancy and the critical post-natal phase. The experts emphasised balanced nutrition, emotional well-being, positive thinking and the importance of timely medical consultation during pregnancy.

They also underlined the vital role played by families and society in creating a supportive environment for expectant mothers. The event also featured an insightful panel discussion with experts from Command Hospital (Northern Command) and distinguished outstation speakers.

Addressing the gathering, Shinei Sharma, Regional President AWWA, underscored that a healthy and happy mother forms the cornerstone of a strong family and a progressive Nation. She reaffirmed AWWA’s unwavering commitment towards the welfare, health and empowerment of Army families.
