Kishtwar, A delegation from Kuntwara–Haddar called on MLA Shagun Parihar today to press for urgent solutions to long‑standing civic and development issues affecting the area. The meeting resulted in firm assurances from the MLA and immediate directions to concerned departments.
Delegates highlighted the pressing need for road connectivity to Kuntwara Shandri Panchayat, saying a dependable road link is critical for socio‑economic development and would significantly ease transportation and market access for residents. They also raised complaints about staff shortages and teacher absenteeism in local schools, irregular and insufficient ration supplies, and recurring electricity outages accompanied by unusually high bills — problems that, they said, have compounded everyday hardships in the remote communities.
Taking the delegation’s concerns seriously, MLA Shagun Parihar assured residents that all genuine grievances would be treated as a priority. “No injustice to the people will be tolerated,” she said, reaffirming her commitment to strengthening public service delivery across the constituency. She further pledged that the road connectivity project for Kuntwara Shandri Panchayat would be initiated shortly and completed up to the Shandri Mata temple, which she described as a top priority.
Acting promptly, the MLA contacted senior officials of the Power Development Department and the Food and Supplies Department and issued strict directives for immediate remedial measures. The Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO), Drabshalla, was instructed to release pending rations to 22 affected households without delay. Simultaneously, JPDCL authorities were directed to carry out urgent repairs and restore the electric transformer at Shandri to re-establish reliable power supply.
Parihar said she would personally monitor progress and follow up regularly to ensure prompt implementation. She expressed confidence that substantial progress on road connectivity would be achieved by November 2026, providing much‑needed relief and improved access for the local population.
Highlighting development funding already in motion, the MLA announced an allocation of ₹40 lakh under different heads for various works in Shandri Panchayat. She said multiple projects are under execution to address long‑pending demands and to strengthen local infrastructure, adding that developmental works will continue in a phased and transparent manner.
“The development of remote and underserved pockets remains our topmost priority,” Parihar said, assuring residents that efforts would continue until all essential services are stabilized and community needs are met.
The delegation included BJP workers and local leaders from Kuntwara Shandri Panchayat, among them Mohan Lal Sharma, Sushil Kumar, Sadu Ram, Bed Raj Sharma, Bittu Sharma, Panchhi Ram, Kamlesh Sharma and Girdhari Lal Sharma.
Officials from the relevant departments are expected to submit action reports to the MLA’s office in the coming weeks, after which follow‑up field inspections will be carried out to verify progress.
