Garud Commandos Equipped to Tackle Emerging Security Threats


New Delhi: To mark the successful completion of training of Air Force Special Forces operatives of the ‘Garud’ force, the Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade was at the Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC), Air Force Station Chandinagar.
Air Vice Marshal Rahul Gupta, ACAS Ops (Space), reviewed the parade as the chief guest.
The Commandant of the Garud Regimental Training Centre received the chief guest and briefed him on various aspects of the training.


Congratulating the ‘Garuds’ on their successful passing out, the chief guest emphasised the importance of rigorous training and honing Special Forces skills to keep pace with the fast-changing security environment.He presented the Maroon Beret, Garud Proficiency Badge and Special Forces Tabs to the successful trainees and also gave away trophies to the awardees.

During the passing-out ceremony, the ‘Garuds’ showcased a range of specialised skills, including combat firing, hostage rescue, firing drills, assault explosives handling, obstacle crossing, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling and military martial arts.

The Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade marked a proud milestone for the ‘Garuds’, signifying the successful culmination of an extremely demanding training programme and their transformation into young Special Forces operators joining the elite ‘Garud’ force.

Considering the role of the IAF Special Forces in Operation Sindoor, the newly passed-out operators are expected to further strengthen the Indian Air Force’s capability to undertake newly defined special missions.
