EOW Jammu Chargesheets 2 in Land Record Fraud

Jammu, The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu, has filed a chargesheet before the Hon’ble Court of Additional District & Sessions Judge (Anti-Corruption Court) Udhampur against Allah Din S/o Dalmir R/o Battal Balian, Udhampur and Joginder Kumar Sawhney (now expired), the then Tehsildar, Udhampur, in connection with allegations of cheating, forgery and manipulation of revenue records.
The case FIR No. 66/2022 was registered on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Shamas Din S/o Noor Jamal R/o Battal Tehsil and District Udhampur. The complainant alleged that accused Allah Din had fraudulently changed his father’s name in the revenue records, on the basis of the altered parentage, unlawfully claimed ancestral property belonging to the complainant.


During the course of investigation, evidence collected established that accused Allah Din S/o Dalmir allegedly changed his parentage from Dalmir to Baghu, in connivance with Joginder Kumar Sawhney, the then Tehsildar, Udhampur.
The case was investigated by Dy.SP Aakash Kohli, who led the investigation and examined the relevant revenue records and other evidence. On the basis of the evidence and material brought on record during investigation, the allegations were found to be substantiated.


Accordingly, the investigation was concluded with the filing of a chargesheet before the Hon’ble Court against accused Allah Din and Joginder Kumar Sawhney (now expired) the then Tehsildar Udhampur for offences punishable under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, along with the list of witnesses and seized documents, for judicial determination.
