District Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Organized at GDC Kishtwar

Kishtwar, The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kishtwar organized the District Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament in the College Auditorium under the chairmanship of Principal Prof. Basharat Iqbal.


The programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the enthusiasm, confidence, and democratic spirit displayed by the participants. He emphasized that Youth Parliament platforms strengthen constitutional values, promote critical thinking, and prepare young minds to take up leadership roles in society.

He congratulated the organizers for successfully hosting the District Level competition and encouraged students to continue participating in such nation-building initiatives.


The programme commenced with a welcome address by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Esarul Ayub, who highlighted the significance of the Youth Parliament in fostering informed debate and responsible citizenship among the youth.


The District Level competition witnessed the participation of more than 20 students from GDC Kishtwar, GDC Padder, and GDC Chatroo. The performances were evaluated by jury members Tariq Tamkeen, Associate Professor, GDC Bhaderwah, and Yaseen Sirwal, Senior Assistant Professor, GDC Bhaderwah.

After careful evaluation, the best five participants were selected to represent the district at the State Level Round.


Several officers from the District Administration and faculty members of the college attended the event. The event was anchored by Prof. Tabassum Saleem.

The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sheikh Mohd Usman, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, jury members, participants, District Administration, and the organizing team for their support and contribution.


The programme concluded on a note of appreciation and renewed commitment towards empowering youth through democratic engagement and constructive dialogue.
