GANDERBAL, Kashmir: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday reviewed key development projects and public issues in Ganderbal district, directing officials to ensure time-bound completion of ongoing works and swift resolution of public grievances.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction New Bus Adda Road, a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion. Stressing the need for timely completion, he instructed the executing agencies to expedite the work so the road could be opened to the public at the earliest.
Accompanied by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore and senior officials, the Chief Minister later chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of major development projects.
The meeting reviewed issues related to road connectivity, irrigation, flood protection, sewerage, solid waste management, land acquisition and other infrastructure initiatives. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal highlighted priority projects requiring government intervention, including land acquisition for road widening, improved connectivity to the Central University of Kashmir, strengthening irrigation canals, development of tourism infrastructure, a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Manasbal, rehabilitation of shopkeepers affected by Ring Road Phase-II and establishment of an Integrated Solid Waste Management Plant.
The Chief Minister directed all departments to work in close coordination, remove bottlenecks, expedite approvals and complete ongoing and proposed projects within stipulated timelines. He emphasized minimizing delays and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced and inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir through improved infrastructure, better civic amenities and efficient governance.
During the visit, Omar Abdullah also met several public deputations at Dak Bungalow Ganderbal. Representatives from Safapora, Nuner, Manigam, Lar, Sherpathri, Shallabugh, Waskura, Wakura, Manasbal, Gutlibagh, Beehama, Rangil, Saloora, Wayil, Batwina and other areas raised issues related to drinking water, irrigation, canal desilting, education, healthcare, sports infrastructure, tourism facilities and local development.
The Chief Minister assured the delegations that their genuine concerns would be addressed on priority and directed the concerned departments to take appropriate action in a time-bound manner, reiterating his government’s commitment to responsive and people-centric governance.
